Most frequent questions and answers

All ages are served.   For the youngest ones we will likely have them in attendance with their caregivers for the most optimal outcomes.

Individual sessions will be scheduled for 60 minutes each.

Group sessions will be scheduled for a minimum of 1.5 hours so there is enough time to do all activities.

The cost of an individual session is $75.00.

The cost of participating in a group session varies based upon the particular group being offered.

We do not accept any type of insurance panels for this program and can only accept private pay.

We encourage you to support your child having an independent experience while on the property.  Taking some space from your child so as not to interrupt the therapeutic process or the group dynamics is best for the overall program.   Feel free to head into Boerne for a coffee or quick errand.

For particular programs geared towards families and special days, you will be definitely be invited to stay.

Please wear weather appropriate clothing and closed toe shoes. When it rains we play. Only under severe lightning and hail would we seek shelter. Varied weather and temperature are to be expected in an outdoor program in the Texas hill country.

We offer regular open farm days throughout the year where registered guest can interact with the animals enjoy the outdoor activities we have here on the farm.

Being a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist since 2014, Amy, the owner and director of The OC, has worked with a countless number of children and their families.   While it still remains effective  to engage in talk therapy at the office and to take a child-centered approach in a play therapy space full of toys, we now have the evidence- based research to support taking the whole process outdoors and include animals!

Unfortunately, health insurance companies are behind in the research and do not yet see the therapeutic value of interacting with nature and live animals.    If you are curious about the research, please check out lots of current reading on the topics on our resources page.

We provide a port o’ potty for Open Farm Days, but during our day programs, we do not always have one available for the kids in attendance.  So what do we offer?  Well, we offer the great outdoors to take care of your personal business (#1) and a portable potty lid and bucket to take care of the rest (#2).

We do not offer refunds for any reasons including bad weather, we hope you brought your rain coat and boots!

We do our best to be proactive.  We will have you sign a waiver and understand the natural risks associated with being outdoors in nature and interacting with animals.  W are an agritourism site with the Texas Farm Bureau and there are inherent risks when entering the property. We will offer the precautions and help where we can, but ultimately cannot predict unusual circumstances or misbehavior resulting in injury.

Yes!   We have hosted non profit events, birthday parties and more.  You can definitely email us your request and we will do our best to accommodate you.
